By Austin Richardson:

The Battle Mountain Huskies move to 2-1 after a tough loss to Basalt on Saturday.
The Huskies struggled for offense, only managing a handful of first downs in the 28-0 loss.
Basalt's balanced offense scored 14 in the first half and 14 in the second. Longhorns C. Dombrowski and G. Webb took care of the scoring in the tilt. A stout running attack by the young Longhorns will assure them success this season. Two facemask penalties by the Huskies allowed Basalt to continue on critical scoring drives in the first half.

A glimmer of hope shone through in the waning minutes of the first half, when Battle Mountain managed to get three first downs in a row, however they were unable to get any point on the board.
Forward momentum was hard to come by for Battle Mountain, but it was clear there was no giving up.
Huskies defenders came up with some stops throughout the game, but not enough to ward off the Longhorn's drives.

The Ruggs Benedict "Red Carpet" Player of the Game goes to Anthony Sanchez, fighting hard on both sides of the ball.

The Crossville Studios "Block of Granite" Lineman of the Game is awarded to Ernesto Esparza, showing tenacity on both sides of scrimmage.

The Bighorn Toyota "Drive of the Game" came in the second half when Battle Mountain drove the ball into Longhorn's territory, stalling out near the 10-yard line.
