Riverwalk

Friday July 12th - After Midnight

Once you hear After Midnight, you’ll wish the evening could go on forever! Swinging hard for more than a score of years, this sonically adept troupe has performed hundreds of concerts across the US at a wide variety of venues, jazz festivals and hip summer soirées. With dizzying precision (and lots of practice), they tackle the most challenging charts of Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Lionel Hampton, Nat “King” Cole, Sinatra and others. Be prepared to kick off your shoes and dance on Riverwalk’s well-manicured lawn–their energetic delivery of this infectious music will get you dancing, swinging, and smiling! Accumulating acclaim wherever they play, they venture well beyond the expected Goodman/Shaw/Herman-style of small-group tunes, offering a more diverse and creative take on the clarinet & vibe combo; a little bit Latin, a smidgen of blues, and a scintilla of cocktail pop!

Vail Market

Sunday July 14th - BLT with Bob Rebholz

Catch us at the groovy spot at the market: the Vail Jazz tent outside of Solaris! Grab some shade and enjoy some tunes as Vail Jazz brings in some of the best talents from the broader Rocky Mountain area.

BLT has sustained music-hungry jazzers for years, serving up tasty tidbits of trad jazz thanks to the cookin’ of Brian Loftus (drums), and Tony Gulizia (of KZYR on keyboards and vocals). Joining this popular Vail duo is Bob Rebholz, one of the Denver area’s most popular saxmen. These VJ@TM stalwarts will be dishing out reliable fare fit for jazz royalty like Count Basie and Duke Ellington, to the Gershwins, Cole Porter, Al Jarreau and Van Morrison.

Every Sunday In July - Jammin' Jazz Kids

Building on the success of Jazz Goes to School which has served more than 18,000 students in Eagle County, Vail Jazz offers an even greater hands-on musical experience – Jammin’ Jazz Kids – presented during the month of July in conjunction with the Jazz @ The Market series on Sundays in Vail Village.

An important part of the mission of Vail Jazz is to perpetuate jazz (both its appreciation and its performance) by teaching the fundamentals of jazz to the next generation of jazz players and listeners. Jammin’ Jazz Kids offers an engaging and fun learning experience for youngsters 4 to 12 years old—an interactive jazz experience providing a hands-on opportunity to learn the fundamentals of jazz. During the program, kids will play a variety of percussion instruments—maracas, bongos, congas, tambourines, and Orff instruments. And they will listen to and join with jazz musicians in playing music and learning the art of improvisation.

Sign ups begin at 10:45, with the program running from 11:00-11:50
