The Battle Mountain Huskies took on the Bulldogs from Palisade Friday night at Husky Stadium in Edwards.  The Huskies were a bit over matched giving away nearly 50lbs per man on the line, but they never stopped competing.  The Huskies came out in an surprise defense with only one down lineman and multiple linebackers who gap blitzed nearly every play in an effort to offset the size differential but to no avail in the first half of the game.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring on a long opening drive that was capped by a short run from Cameron Tucker the Southpaw quarterback who led the Bulldogs in both passing and rushing.  The Bulldogs were able to score on the next 4 drives, with 2 passing TDs and 2 rushing TDs all of the drives started on the Huskies side of the ball.  The Bulldogs also added a pick 6 score in the half causing the running clock mercy rule to kick in.

Down 42-0 at the half, the Huskies played inspired in the second half on both sides of the ball.  They got it going on offense on their first drive of the half when Kia Haggen connected on a receiver screen to the left and Spencer Goldberg scampered 35 yards.  Haggen finished off the drive with a nice 21 TD scramble.  Haggen continued to flash with connections to Goldberg and Garret Anderson.  Haggen capped the drive with a 3 yard TD run.  Elijah Blaze Morales played with reckless abandon on defense making critical stops in the second half.

With the running clock the Huskies opportunities for a full comeback where limited and the game ended 42-14 as the Huskies held the Bulldogs, who were playing some backups, scoreless in the second half.

The Loss drops the Huskies record to 2-7, but you can throw records out the window next week when they take on their arch rival Eagle Valley Devil's.
