Screen Shot 2020-07-28 at 9.47.13 AMKarats is a jewelry store owned and operated by Dan Telleen located in Vail Village in Vail Colorado. The art work sold there is mostly pieces Dan has created himself. This weekend of August 1 and 2 they will be holding a trunk show.

 

Dan Telleen:

Dan Telleen is the owner of Karats, a local jewelry store. Studied art education at Wayne State Teachers College, then went on to teaching in Michigan. Shortly after he went to Vail and opened a gallery to showcase his artistic jewelry. 1985 is when he opened Karats, which is a jewelry store displaying Dan’s custom jewelry designs. His work has been featured in selected exhibitions throughout the world in museums and galleries, as well as print media. This year Dan will be celebrating 50 years of jewelry design in the Vail Valley.  

 

Koji Kawamoto:

He is from Mie, Prefecture, a small Japanese village where the process of culturing pearls was first discovered. Koji prides himself with his collection of pearls from around the world and his ability to match the pearls and the necklace to the preferred buyer. When someone is looking to buy a necklace he will have uncut pearls and will look at the customer's skin color and eye color and will create a pearl necklace just for them for perfect union. 

 

Pearls:

Some different pearls Koji brings are abalone pearls, akoya pearls, conch pearls, freshwater pearls, japan kasumi pearls, quahog pearls, tahitian pearls, and sea of cortez pearls. Many of these different types of pearls will be displayed and for sale at this weekend’s trunk show.
