Eagle County turns 140 in 2023, and residents are invited to join in the celebration. Eagle County was created by the state assembly on February 11, 1883, and named for the Eagle River. The county is celebrating with a "Then and Now" photo exhibit, a historical speaker series, and many more exciting events.

The 140th-anniversary celebration speaker series continues on Wednesday, April 5 at 5:30 p.m. at Vail Public Library. Nina Gabianelli and Skyler Lomahaftewah from the Aspen Historical Society present Stories of the Nuche, Tales from the Ute. Storytelling has been used in every culture as a means of entertainment, education, and cultural preservation. This program will present the history of the native people of Colorado, and the modern-day Ute experience.
