Council Appoints Next Town Manager

Avon, CO – During last evening’s regular meeting, the Avon Town Council appointed Eric Heil to the position of Town Manager, effective April 29, 2019. Heil has served in the role of Town Attorney for the Town of Avon for the last 10 years.

“The Town of Avon is extremely lucky to have someone of Eric Heil’s abilities and talents to be our new Town Manager,” said Mayor Sarah Smith Hymes. “Eric’s institutional knowledge of the Town, coupled with an understanding of what issues are at the forefront for Avon, led Council to believe that he is the right person to work with us to continue the progress Avon is making in addressing our key issues and priorities.”

Mr. Heil received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver and has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin. He also holds a certificate from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). Heil has a strong background in land use regulations and real estate transactions, and he has worked for municipalities across Colorado, from Centennial to Creede. With over 26 years of experience serving Colorado communities and elected officials as a municipal attorney, planner, town manager, grant writer and project manager, Heil expressed enthusiasm about his new role. “The Town of Avon is one of the most desirable places to live and work in all of Colorado. I truly look forward to working with Council, the Town’s strong leadership team, and the community to build upon a reputation of sound governance and excellence in providing services and meeting the needs of citizens,” said Heil.
