KZYR is proud to sponsor the Art of The Rockies is a fine arts festival located on the campus of the Colorado Mountain College in Edwards, Colorado. 8 miles from the famous Rocky Mountain community of Vail, 4 miles from upscale Beaver Creek and Avon, located right on I-70 – Edwards is the heart of the Vail Valley Community .
The Friday Night Art Walk, sponsored by Korbel Champagne, Brainiac Café and the Vail Valley Arts League is a grand new tradition for the Vail Valley. This “gotta go” event will open the festival with music by DJ Fred Fernandez, complimentary champagne and appetizers free to the public. Like a gallery opening, you will have first view of the art work and meet all the artists. The art walk will have a summer night out feel with food, music and libations flowing in the sweet mountain air.
Saturday July 13 9am – 4pm
Good-morning Vail Valley, the festival opens at a cool 9am on Saturday and Sunday. Breakfast items and Vail Mountain Coffee, donated by our local coffee masters starts your day of art discovery. Colorado Mountain College in Edwards welcomes over 110 artists. These creators will be on hand to talk to you about their work, your interests and how they create their images. Painters, sculptors, photographers exhibit their fine art in beautiful outdoor gallery booths. Master craftspeople will present pottery, metal and wood creations for your home. Local ceramic sculptor, teacher and festival director, Colleen Everett, will be set up on the outdoor patio by the food court.
Families are welcome to a free Children’s Art Discovery Tent area with a “bug’s life” craft project from Walking Mountain Nature Center, a teepee sculpture weaving collaboration, and painting on canvas sponsored by Scully’s Art Supplies of Eagle-Vail.
Sunday July 14 9 am – 4 pm
Art lovers will be rewarded with handmade treasures at all price ranges. The festival has art and handmade pieces at all price points. Not all of us are art collectors, but we want the finer things in life. Photographic prints by Denver artist, Bob Coller Jewett (booth 2) start at $25.00 and tease the imagination with collaged kaleidoscope imagery. Thomas Leiblein (booth 65) has clever, eye-catching pewter caste serving items that make a perfect wedding gift at only $60.00. Active women’s clothing at Gnome Designs is very affordable and the bike skirt is a favorite at just $45.00.
