Local Nordic Race POSTPONED!

Today’s Ski and Snowboard Club Vail Nordic Town Series race scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at the Vail Nordic Center has been canceled due to inclement weather and cold temperatures.

The series will now kick off on Wednesday, December 16th at the Vail Nordic Center and will welcome all ages and Nordic skiing abilities. The Dec. 16 race will be sponsored by Happy Valley Grill and feature the Night Criterium, a Freestyle Fun race.

Races will begin at 4 p.m. with a one kilometer race for lower/elementary school-aged competitors, followed by a two kilometer race at 4:30 p.m. for middle school-aged competitors. The final race will take place at 5:15 and feature four kilometers for high school-aged and adult competitors.

The Vail Town Series, presented by East West Partners, will take place on select Wednesdays, December through March as follows:

Dec. 16 – Night Criterium (Vail Nordic Center)

Dec. 23 – Holiday Classic (Vail Nordic Center)

Jan. 13 – Cordillera/Timber Hearth Freestyle (Cordillera Nordic Center)

Feb. 10 – Skate Sprints (VNC))

Feb. 24 – Relay Rally (VNC)

March 3 – Town Series Championship – Freestyle format (VNC)

March 24 – VNC Fiesta and Funnski with BBQ, Jumps & Bumps!

The cost of each race is $10 for adults or $5 for children ages 13 and younger. All proceeds from the Nordic Town Series benefit the Nordic Programs of SSCV.
