Vail Seeks 'TARP' Plan

A group of Vail business leaders have approached the Obama administration with their own form of rescue plan. They are seeking $395 Million for an Electro Perimeter Inside Climatator(EPIC) Dome over the ski resort to help extend the ski season and preserve nature and the environment.

The plan, being referred to in Washington, DC, as ‘EPIC Tarp,’ is the brainchild of Maxxie Seasons of Dinosaur, CO. It amounts to a massive blanket covering the thousands of skiable acres of Vail Mountain. The blanket acts as a weather diffuser or tarp over the snow thus slowing the snowmelt and effectively extending the ski season by as much as three months.

Vail representatives are flying to Washington to present, in their words, “A combination bailout slash green initiative.”

A spokesperson for the area said, “This plan calls for Vail, which like all other businesses has been hit by the recession, to benefit by extending the ski season as much as 90 days. This will help offset the impact of business downturn. In addition, the slowing of the snow melt will have a positive impact on the environment by delaying the massive flooding of area waters and preserving wildlife.”

Local residents responded with mix reviews. Some were overjoyed at the extended ski season while others thought it would look really goofy.

However inventor Seasons says residents would hardly even know the dome was present. He said, “I designed it much like the dome in the Jim Carrey movie The Truman Show. In it residents inside the dome thought it was simply a beautiful blue ski. From the outside it might appear strange but with advertising on the outside panel Vail could even realize additional revenues.”
