U2 Postpones Tour!

Mega-band U2 announced this morning (Tues 5/25) it had postponed the North American leg of its U2360° Tour, including a June 12 date in Denver, until 2011.

The reason the shows were cancelled was because lead singer Bono is recovering from emergency surgery on his spine last week in Munich, Germany. He has been released from the hospital, but doctors have recommended at least two months of rest.

Live Nation tour promoters are working on rescheduling the 16 tour dates, but nothing had been announced yet.

U2 posted the announcement on its website on Tuesday.

Paul McGuinness, a spokesman for the band, said in a statement posted on the band's website on Tuesday that Bono and the band are "devastated" they are letting down more than a million people who bought tickets for the tour.

Live Nation encourages ticketholders to hold onto their tickets.
