LISTEN TO SYLVAN INTERVIEW THIS MORNING WITH STEVE LEIGH

Correction to story posted last night.

Vail native Sylvan Ellefson won the National championship in 30K Nordic but has yet to officially qualify for the Olympic team.  We regret the error.

Sylvan won the 30k National Title today in Soldier Hollow, Utah!

Here is what fasterskier.com blog had to say

MIDWAY, Utah — Sylvan Ellefeson of Ski and Snowboard of Vail and Team Homegrown has won the 30 k at the 2014 U.S. Cross Country Championships in Midway, Utah. After several failed breakaway attempts by Patrick Johnson (Far West) and Scott Patterson (UVM), Ellefson made his own and skied by himself in the lead for the last two laps. Brian Gregg (Team Gregg/Madshus) finshed second after nearly catching Elffeson at the finish. Kris Freeman (Maine WSC) finished third. The women’s 20 k starts at 12:00 MST.
